Our volunteer met Luna and while she is quite the barker and can appear and sound intimidating, she is quick to welcome lots of pets and attention. She is crate trained but isn't home for long hours during the day. Luna lives with kids 12+ and has been great with their friends coming and going. She is fearful at the vet and will cower. She is reportedly friendly with new people, after a dose of barking and alerting of stranger danger. We'd like to see Luna in a home where she can be exposed to some positive based training to help her be the best version of herself. Our rescue is against any sort of board and train and we feel very strongly that training is a journey that families should walk WITH their dog. Luna's family sent her away to a board and train to help curb this reactivity.
BOXER DOG ADOPTION HOW TO
She doesn't know how to greet other dogs and her "run after them at full tilt" is going to get her into a lot of trouble. Luna has not been socialized with other dogs outside of the male that she lives with and one other dog. She doesn't attack dogs but she's a nuisance and the family can no longer deal with it. Kids in the house are not closing the door and she's scooting out. The issue that seems to be the biggest stressor for her family is that she gets out of the house and goes after neighborhood dogs.

Her current family doesn't have the time to devote to her needs and would like us to find a home more suited for Luna. Luna will be 2 years old in December and she's looking to hit the "reset" button and get a new start in life.
